EPSS 331 Igneous &Metamorphic Petrology
This course provides an overview of igneous and metamorphic rocks in terms of their origin and
distribution in relation to plate tectonics. Students learn about igneous melt generation, evolution, and
crystallization processes and their relationship with the geotectonic environment . Students learn to
recognize, describe, and classify many rocks in both hand specimens and thin sections in the Petrology
Laboratory.
