CHEG 473 Conventional and Emerging Desalination Technologies

This course introduces students to desalination technologies, emphasizing fundamental principles, process design, and operational challenges for thermal and membrane-based systems. It covers pre-treatment, post-treatment, fouling, scaling control, and process optimization, supplemented by real-world case studies highlighting technical, economic, and environmental aspects. Additionally, emerging technologies such as Membrane Distillation (MD), Capacitive Deionization (CDI), and Atmospheric Water Harvesting (AWH) are discussed, providing students with a broader industry perspective.
