Independent Study and Research Experience

The independent study 391/491 enables a student to undertake a learning opportunity which is otherwise unavailable. Independent study courses must have an appropriate learning plan (typically a syllabus), learning outcomes, end of term evaluations and appropriate assessment. The maximum number of credits taken towards independent study is 3 credits and it can be free or technical elective course.
UG Research 377/477 is a research-based course following the syllabus that was approved by UCC 2 years ago. The maximum number of credits that student can take as UG research is 3 credits as a technical elective. But student can also opt for an additional 3 credits of UG Research as a free elective. Therefore, the maximum number of credits taken as UG Research is 6: max. 3 credits as a Technical and max. 3 as a free elective.
