CHEG 342 Optimization in Chemical Engineering

This course introduces optimization methods for enhancing the efficiency, design, and performance of process systems. Students learn to formulate and solve optimization problems by defining objective functions, constraints, and mathematical models relevant to the Chemical Engineering process industry. Topics include linear and nonlinear programming, emphasizing solution techniques and their application to process synthesis, planning, and operational decision-making. The course combines theoretical foundations with hands-on experience using optimization software tools.
