BMED 426 Biomedical Image Processing: Operations and Applications

This course covers state of the art methods for medical image processing. Several classic algorithms for image processing are covered, with particular emphasis on their flexibility and robustness. Students acquire in-depth knowledge about the underlying assumptions and algorithms behind image processing methods. Examples from current applications are discussed, particularly for contrast enhancement, edge detection, denoising, segmentation, and identification of abnormalities.
