Remedial Courses
Remedial Courses
Khalifa University offers remedial courses for students who do not quite meet the entrance requirements so that they can be better prepared for freshman level courses at KU. Students who are required to take one or two remedial courses at KU are offered conditional admission and have one semester to pass the remedial course(s) with a grade of C (72.5%) or higher. Students only have one chance to take remedial courses. If they fail to get a C or higher in any remedial course, drop the course, fail because of attendance, or fail to complete the course in one semester for any other reason, they will not be allowed to continue at KU.
Remedial English (ENGL 011) is slightly different than the other remedial courses. Students who need remedial English may take up to one other remedial course at the same time, but they are not allowed to take any undergraduate courses until they both pass the course with a C or higher and gain the required external English proficiency score (EMSAT, IELTS, etc.).
Once students successfully pass the required remedial courses (and achieve the required external proficiency score for English), they will be granted full admission to KU.
