Forming the Research Supervisory Committee

Following the allocation of a research project and the appointment of the Main Advisor, a Research Supervisory Committee (RSC) must be established for each student. While the Main Advisor and Co-Advisor(s), where applicable, have primary responsibility for supervising and directing the student's research, the RSC is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the student's academic and research progress, providing guidance and feedback, and making a recommendation on the award of the graduate degree. The RSC is established in consultation with the student and consists of the Main Advisor, Co-Advisor(s), where applicable, and two independent Committee Members. The Committee Members must be full-time Khalifa University faculty members with expertise relevant to the student's field of study and must not be directly involved in supervising or conducting the student's research. The Committee Members are nominated by the Main Advisor, appointed by the relevant Department Chair and the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, and approved by the Associate Provost for Academic Operations.
