AERO 320 Aerospace Materials

This course introduces the fundamental principles of materials science, with an emphasis on their application in engineering services. Students explore metals, alloys, polymers, ceramics, and composites, along with phase diagrams, microstructure development, and control through heat treatment. Mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms, including fatigue, fracture, and corrosion, are examined in detail. The course also introduces sustainable materials innovations, with a special focus on advanced composites for the aviation industry.
