ESMA 271 Modern Methods of Manufacturing

This course introduces modern manufacturing methods with emphasis on digital manufacturing, automation, and additive manufacturing. It examines the interaction among product design, materials selection, energy usage, and manufacturing processes within an integrated systems perspective. Laboratory instruction provides hands on experience in machining, process planning, and economic justification. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are used to support product conceptualization, material and process selection, computer-aided design, and manufacturing planning.
