Undergraduate Catalog

PHYS 132 Introduction to Electricity, Magnetism, and Optics

This course uses basic vector calculus and techniques of integration to explore the spatial and temporal distribution of charges, currents, and electromagnetic fields.  Basic elements of electricity and material properties, electric circuits, light, and ray optics are also introduced. Electromagnetic waves and applications to wave optics are discussed. Laboratory activities with experiments demonstrating and exploring the course concepts are included.
