CHEG 711 Microfluidics and its Applications in Chemical Engineering
Microfluidics is concerned with transport processes happening at a microscale and is utilized in a wide range of applications such as water harvesting, sensing applications, and drug delivery. Whether a process relies on mass, energy, or electrons/ions transport, it can be miniaturized for enhanced performance and numbered up to achieve high throughputs. This course will cover basic concepts in fluid dynamics at a microscale, microfabrication techniques, essential components of microfluidic platforms in chemical engineering, and an introduction to COMSOL for CFD simulations of microfluidic systems.
