CHEM 425 Drug Discovery & Development

This course introduces and illustrates how contemporary synthetic organic chemistry is used in the identification and preparation of medicinally valuable compounds. It focuses on innovative methods for the design, synthesis, characterization, and scale-up of potential drug libraries and molecules. High-throughput methods, computational tools, biomolecules, and green chemistry are emphasized. Pharmaceutical examples are used to illustrate these methods, with analysis of recently published papers.
