BIOM 730 Basic mechanisms of Aging and Metabolism
Aging is an inevitable process that affects everyone. This course offers a unique and welcoming environment for PhD students interested in studying the aging process or age-related diseases. It specifically focuses on molecular, cellular, and regenerative medicine, as well as the integrative biology of aging. The course content aims to elucidate how the regulation of specific metabolic processes contributes to health, disease, and aging. In the context of older patients, where comorbidities and individual variabilities such as environmental factors and genetic alterations are the norm, a precision medicine approach becomes particularly relevant for optimal disease diagnosis and treatment. Throughout the course, students will actively participate in discussions centered around cutting-edge research and the latest discoveries in this field. This ensures that they acquire contemporary and up-to-date knowledge and advanced skills.
