BIOM 740 Aging and Neurodegenerative Diseases
This course aims to deliver fundamental knowledge on the genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms that underlie aging and the most common neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, and Huntington disease. Students will be briefly introduced to the anatomy, histology and immunology of the central nervous system with emphasis on regions commonly affected in neurodegenerative diseases. The course will focus on the most recent research findings in detection, prevention, and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Students will be required to present seminar topics selected from the current literature in this research field.
