PHYS 738 Theoretical Astroparticle Physics

This course explores the physical mechanisms responsible for the production of high-energy particles in extreme environments. It includes supernova remnants within our galaxy and extragalactic sources like active galactic nuclei and gamma-ray bursts. The course examines the interactions of these particles with matter, magnetic fields, and ambient photon backgrounds, as well as processes governing their emission from sources and subsequent propagation through space-time. It also covers how a multi-messenger approach enhances our understanding of the universe.
